Auckland City FC came on a flight from Spain, where it was in a preparatory camp in the suburbs of Barcelona to prepare for the Club World Cup.
The Auckland City team will face, in the opening match of this global event, the Egyptian club Al-Ahly, on February 1, at the Grand Stadium in Tangiers.
"The team's participation in the Club World Cup in Morocco will bring happiness to a number of people in New Zealand," the coach of the team, Albert Riera Vidal, confirmed in a statement to the press, adding that "everything here in Morocco is wonderful, especially the warm reception."
The first game against Al-Ahly will be challenging, but every player in our team is passionate and determined to play seriously and win, the coach stated. "We trained properly and enthusiastically, as we traveled to a camp in Spain, and we are aware that the first match against Al-Ahly will be difficult."
