Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, Minister of Sports and Chairman of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, received today, Sunday, the delegation of the Saudi Al-Hilal team, upon its arrival at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, after its participation in the FIFA Club World Cup.
Al-Hilal won second place in the Club World Cup, which concluded in Morocco yesterday, Saturday, after losing 5-3 to Real Madrid in the final match.
Al-Hilal began its participation in the world championship by defeating Moroccan Wydad Casablanca (African Champion) with a penalty shootout in the second round of the World Cup, after they tied 1-1 in the original and extra time, before defeating 3-2 Brazilian Flamengo, holders of the Copa Libertadores Cup for Clubs of America. South, in the semi-finals.
During his meeting with the mission, Al-Faisal congratulated the club's management, the technical and administrative staff, and the players on the distinguished and honorable levels presented by the team, which culminated in its reaching the final match in the World Cup, and its obtaining the rank of world clubs in an achievement recorded for the first time for Saudi football.
The Saudi Minister of Sports confirmed that this success is an extension of the successes that Saudi football has achieved in recent years at the level of national teams of various categories, as well as clubs.
Al-Hilal became the third Arab team to reach the final of the Club World Cup, after the Moroccan Raja Casablanca and Al-Ain UAE, who achieved the same achievement in the 2013 and 2018 editions, respectively, of the tournament.
